Saint Remigius Villa
The Saint Remigius Villa was built in Pallanza on the hills of Castagnola and offers its visitors enjoyment via a gorgeous panoramic view of Lago Maggiore (Great Lake). A lush lawn full that surrounds the building delights visitors with flowers, majestic trees, rare species, pleasant corners animated by ancient sculptures, and excellent decorations and embellishments.
Constructed in the first years of the twentieth century, this Villa represents the fruit of the passion of two lovers who wanted to create “the dream garden”: the marquis Silvio of the Casanova Valley, a poet and musician from Naples, and Sofia Browne, an Irish painter. The husband and wife wanted to create a place where nature and art could live together in harmony.
Today the building is occupied by the offices of the Province of Verbania and visits to the gardens must be booked in advance. Brides and grooms can reserve the inside of the Villa to celebrate a civil marriage ceremony.
