Verbania, Capital of the Province
The city of Verbania is the capital of the Province of Verbano Cusio Ossola; it stands a cape in the shape of an inverted triangle in the middle of the Lago Maggiore (Great Lake) and marks the northern boundary of the Borromean Gulf, into which the Toce river flows.
The entire area is surrounded by mountains: the National Park of the Grande (Large) Valley lies to its north while Mount Rosso, a popular destination for excursions and strolls, lies to its east. The populous villages of Pallanza and Suna are located on its southwest bank.
It is very easy and takes little time to arrive in Switzerland from Verbania. It is equally simple to reach the eastern bank of the Lago Maggiore thanks to the frequent connections offered over the water, which offer a different perspective of the landscape.
