1 liter (1/4 gallon) of milk
4 or 5 stale rolls
1 box of macaroons
3 or 4 tablespoons of sugar
3 or 4 tablespoons of bitter cacao
Break the bread into pieces and put it in a bowl with the milk for about a half hour. When soggy, crunch the bread with a fork until the ingredients are well-combined. Crumble the macaroons and add them, together with the egg, sugar, cacao, and raisins, to the bread and milk mixture. Pour the mixture into a buttered baking pan and cook it in the oven using moderate heat until the sweet cake is firm and the edges separate completely from the sides of the pan.
