Crocus/Naked Lady

The name Crocus was derived from the Greek Kròkos; we can find an explicit reference to this flower Homer’s ‘The Iliad’. The crocus is grown in all the Mediterranean countries, Asia Minor, and Persia. Saffron, which is used in cooking and pharmaceuticals, can be obtained from the stigmas of the crocus flower; for this reason, the crocus is commonly called “saffron”.

The bulb doesn’t have to be planted in soil to bloom; it will bloom if left standing in the open air.
